Project Process & Rationale
Broox is a fictional sneaker brand created for my Branding class, where we explored product packaging and brand identity. The brand is owned by filmmaker Spike Lee, renowned for his significant contributions to Black cinema and his portrayal of Black stories and communities, often capturing the essence of New York. With Lee hailing from Brooklyn, the name "Broox" was chosen to evoke a strong, catchy, and bold presence. His support for the arts and the community, combined with New York’s eclectic mix of old and new styles, is reflected in the brand’s wordmark.
The brand targets young artists and a diverse range of creative professionals. Through playful yet nostalgic product packaging, Broox’s shoelaces become a staple item that aligns with the brand’s identity.
